“As a child I was lucky enough to have many holidays abroad and always said that one day I wanted to live overseas. So, after returning from a holiday one year, I decided to apply and here I am now, working in Mallorca as a Destination Administrator.
“I started off with a fantastic week’s induction course in Mallorca. On my final day of induction, I found out that I would be staying on the island to work in one of the resort’s busiest offices for Summer 2011. I was a little disappointed at first because I really wanted to work in Cyprus, but now, four months in to the season, I wouldn’t want to swap resort at all. The team are friendly and have become like a second family to me.
“Mallorca is such a great destination to work. It’s not your average eight-hour day or typical '9 to 5' office job. You sometimes need to work extra hours to support the team but, come your day off, when you are lying on the beach, you soon realise why you decided to live overseas.
“My role includes working closely with the airport, assisting the resort staff, and helping guests in resort. During the day, I could be dealing with accommodation changes, booking seat sales, assisting with UK queries, visiting the clinic and answering guest queries. These are just a few of my day-to-day tasks!
“Here in Mallorca, I could be dealing with a guest or member of staff from any of nine different countries! But whatever country they are from, I always try to provide them with an outstanding level of customer service.
“The thing I enjoy most about living overseas though is the people that you meet and the way of life abroad. Living in Mallorca has been such a great opportunity for me, especially being a first-year administrator. It's been hard work learning all the different tasks the job entails, but I know next year I will be ready for any destination. For the winter though, I am hoping to work ski for Neilson, so fingers crossed!”
