Once we’ve received this form, we’ll measure it against job specific criteria. If this indicates that you may be more suited to a different position to the one you’ve applied for, we’ll automatically consider you for that role too. So there really is no reason to try to apply for more than one role.
If successful, you’ll be contacted within ten working days and invited to one of our assessment days, where we’ll find out more about you through group and individual activities and a one to one interview. You’ll also have the opportunity to find out more about us and what life overseas is like. We’ll also let you know if you need to prepare anything in advance. All communications will be via email, so please take the time to check you’ve supplied us with your correct email address.
Once we’ve met you, we’ll phone you within ten working days to let you know if we’ve a job for you, then confirm this by email on the same day. The purpose of an application form is for you to tell us why you are perfect for the position and why we should invite you for an interview. When you apply for a position you are competing against a lot of other people so it is very important that your application makes a good impression and stands out from the other applications.
The first thing you need to do is make sure that this is the position for you. So make sure that you understand what the position involves and what will be expected of you if successful in securing a position with Thomas Cook.
It is always a good idea to prepare a draft copy of your application form and then transfer the information onto the actual application form. So, as you are applying online, copy the questions onto paper.
Write your answers in clear, proper sentences. Do not use abbreviations, slang or text speak.
Make sure you answer all the questions and fill all the boxes. If the answer is not applicable for you, write 'N/A' next to the question. If you leave it blank, we may think you"ve missed this question.
If there are gaps in your education or employment history, say what you were doing during that time. Examples may include 'travelling around Europe', 'bringing up children' or 'working as a volunteer for charity'.
Once you have answered all of the questions, check your answers to make sure that you have answered the questions fully, and also check the whole application form for correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Ask a friend or relative to check your application form for any errors in your spelling, grammar and punctuation. It is surprising what a fresh pair of eyes may pick out. Ask them what they think of your answers and whether you have answered the questions fully.
Once you are 100% happy with your application form you can transfer the information onto the proper application form. If you are applying online, be careful about typing errors and if you are completing a paper application ensure that you use a black ink pen.
Keep a copy of your draft application form. Don’t arrive at the interview not remembering what you said.
